A candy store stands quiet and dark.
It is late at night and the store is closed. Along both sides, the walls were covered with bins of candy filled to the brim. Streaks of red, yellow and green apples sat glowing with sweetness. The collections of stuffed animals started to come to life and a group of zebras, horses and puppies started to parade over the glass display of delectable whistlers, dazzlers, and various chocolate covered lusciousness. A toy piano started to sound a salsa number and the wild animals began to dance a soft, steady salsa and maracas rocked. Long, thick candy canes of green, white and red were spinning in their places. A pinball machine covered with rockets started to sound as pings and pongs were buzzing along with flashbulbs popping and lights blinking. A chest of drawers fell over and the old soda jerk who now ran the candy store was awoken from sleep. He lived above the store and thought the noise sounded like the furnace, but something was up. He sat up in bed and lit a candle as he wrapped a robe around him. He approached the door and saw the staircase door at the end of the hallway.
